On Friday 8th November, the Park Orchards Community House and Learning Centre hosted the official opening of their new Childcare and Community building, a room to play, learn, grow and share!
It has been years of hard work and determination from the staff and board members of the centre to get this building up and running. The facility will provide families in the area greater availabilty to their childcare service. The building will also be used for community events and classes, it is wheelchair accessible, making it an asset to the community. "The Community House currently hosts a range of activities for members of the community including education and care for children aged 0-5, school holiday programs, health and wellbeing classes, art and creativity workshops and community information sessions Over the past six years, enrolments at the Community House have tripled, prompting the organisation to apply to Pick My Project for funding to create a new multi-purpose space to ‘play, learn, grow and share’. The new community building, which has been built behind the Community House, will provide innovative courses, classes and activities to improve the social connection and well-being of the residents. This project will also assist the organisation’s continued efforts to empower the community in the prevention of family violence and gambling harm through new community assistance programs for local families."
